Going All In

I almost died in October.

Long story short, I had a rare heart infection that took months to diagnose and once it was, it required immediate open heart surgery to save my life.

It’s still surreal to even type that.

If you’re curious, you can read about it in Broken Heart Surgery. But that’s not what this post is about.

Going through something so existential forces an entirely new perspective on how you are living your life.

It took me a while to get back to normal physically.

Mentally, there was questioning around - did I really just live through that experience just to get back on the same Zoom calls?

I liked what we were doing, but it didn’t feel right for me to just go back to business as usual. There has to be some reason I got a second chance.

Once I got better everything seemed more colorful. I am more grateful. I care a lot more about what sort of impact my life has.

It’s a really good feeling.

So, I’m moving more towards it.

Prior to getting sick I launched a side project to help people who struggle with ADHD, anxiety, and procrastination.

With the help of my Co-Founder and a PhD Molecular Biologist Virginie Mansuy-Aubert, we created trygraymatter.com, a company focused on making plant-based alternatives to pharmaceutical drugs.

Graymatter emerged as the solution to health & wellness challenges I experienced while building previous companies.

I explored the benefits of nootropics & adaptogens for my own health. This led to the creation of Graymatter and our first product, Bright Mind. An all-in-one plant-based blend that helps focus and provides an energy boost similar to coffee but free from anxiety, jitters, and crashes.

Think of it like a less intense adderall without the side effects.

Ironically, last fall while I was visiting numerous Doctor’s offices trying to get answers Graymatter started taking off.

In Q4 we 7X’d our subscribers & retention has held high into the 3rd month and beyond.

We’ve gotten incredible & very motivating reviews with statements like:

“thank you for giving me my life back”
“I’ve never had a product like this actually work”
“I haven’t taken Adderall in 5 days because of Bright Mind”
“I hope this never sells out because I can’t imagine my mornings without it”
“Best stuff you will ever try by a long shot. Huge fan for life!”

When I read things like this I can’t help but think this is what I should be doing.

So, I’m going all in on Graymatter to try to help more people feel their best.

To date Graymatter has been entirely self funded. We are barely scratching the surface of what it can be. On the immediate horizon is:
- V.2 Formula of Bright Mind
- Packaging & branding refresh
- Professional content creation
- Scaling digital marketing
- Product expansion

Life can stop at any time. Mine almost did and it helped me find more purpose.

It’s time to help more people achieve their best self.
