DTC Data for Amazon Sellers
I gave a presentation to Amazon sellers at the The SURGE Summit in Tampa, FL.
The talk focused on ways Amazon sellers can use DTC data to make their business more resilient in the time of a recession.
Top 2 tactics are:
1. Find the best products or brands to sell
2. Diversify revenue streams and expand to direct to consumer
Amazon, like all of ecomm, is extremely competitive. Once a product starts working there will soon be many new entrants to the market vying for the same customers.
To combat this, Amazon sellers should continually monitor DTC product trends to find brands and items that can be sold on Amazon.
For example, if you sell personal care items on Amazon, you can gain an edge by finding the next up and coming DTC brand to resell before your competition. Combining Charm growth scores + Product keywords + Wholesale detection filters leads to thousands of opportunities.
During the talk we did a live demonstration and identified a top toothpaste brand that does wholesale but isn't yet sold on Amazon. Amazon sellers should be banging on their door.
As for point number 2 - every business should be diversifying their revenue streams.
Expanding to DTC can seem foreign to Amazon only brands. The good news is there's publicly available data to analyze top DTC brands in the same category and gain competitive intel on what's working.
For example, Amazon brands can query fastest growing brands in their category and identify look-a-likes they want to learn from. Charm identifies their channels of growth and compares their performance on a market level across hundreds of attributes.
Example: Ads
If that same toothpaste brand is scaling their advertising, what copy, content, and keywords are they using? See the Charm Ads tab of any brand for context
Example: Technologies
What platform and top technologies are they using across email, shipping, CX, analytics, & Attribution etc etc? The ecomm saas space is very fragmented but choosing the right ones is as simple as eyeing what the top companies are using.
If this was interesting to you I'd be happy to send the full presentation. In addition, Charm is in the final stages of adding Amazon data to the platform as we continue to grow into the top source of ecommerce data for the entire industry.
Thanks for having us Surge!
